🤔Is it worth using Emoji on LinkedIn?

Of course it is! But the ground is moderation and proper selection of emoji!

Like anything, too much of something will eventually become either overwhelming, annoying or boring. So the question you should be asking is not "should I use emojis on LinkedIn?". The question should be "when should I use emojis on LinkedIn?".

When to use emojis on LinkedIn ✅.

Social media is the number one place where tone and intent can be grossly misinterpreted. That's because no matter how hard you try to get your intended point across, most people will interpret your post however they want. This means that if they've had a bad day or this is the first time they've come across one of your posts, chances are they'll dismiss your post as something uninteresting to them.

Even just using an emoji with a smiley face can make you seem friendlier and add a lighter tone to your post. Not only that, but using an emoji can show people that you are an approachable person, which will make them more likely to engage with your posts. Using👇 is also a way to quickly direct someone to your contact information, so there's a better chance that someone will actually read the information rather than ignore it.

Studies have also shown that visuals make it much easier for people to retain information. For example, using emojis like ✔or 🌟 on posts promoting your experience increases people's feelings and makes them more likely to remember what they read. However, the biggest reason most people will use emojis is that on platforms where people may fall victim to mindless scrolling, it increases the chances of someone stopping at your post above all others.

When NOT to use emojis on LinkedIn ❌.

The simplest way to explain how NOT to use emojis on Linkedin is that context is key. You need to be able to read a virtual room. While overuse of emojis is a big 👎, there are situations where their use will not be appropriate at all.

Even if you are someone who likes to use emojis on LinkedIn, there are some people who will not be fans of them. So, when it comes to important company posts, it may be best to steer clear of them altogether. Emojis that don't fit the context of the post will be seen as unprofessional, and it's more likely that people will skip your posts rather than stick around. Save them for posts that promote a new product or service, or for posts that you share specifically to create engagement with your audience.

As for your audience, once you've been writing posts on LinkedIn for a while, you'll learn what people respond to and what they don't. If you notice that posts containing emojis receive fewer views then chances are that your audience simply doesn't like them. There is a stigma associated with using emojis on LinkedIn. So, there are some connections who may believe they are unprofessional and judge your posts for using them. It all depends on the type of audience you are trying to connect with.

If you just want to push out sales posts, then you may not have any use for emojis. However, LinkedIn is all about building better and more personalized sales relationships. This means you want your posts to have a unique tone of voice, personality and be more than just flat words on a screen. Emojis are a great way to achieve this, but never let them take over your post and leave people feeling confused.
